This month’s Spilling the Tea is all about Collagen Powders. What are they? What do they do? And do they actually work?
For about a year now I have incorporated collagen powders into my daily routine. I will go into more details in benefits in a bit. But I’m my journey of finding collagen I have tried a ton a different brands and have fallen in love with a top 3 that I use for different purposes.
My 3 faves:
1. Vital proteins: Best for in coffee or hot beverages
2. Tonic: Best for Cooking
3. Ancient nutrition: Best for cold beverages
Now let’s dive deeper into the world of collagen!
What is Collagen Powder?
Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body. It is a major component in your connective tissue and in providing structure to your skin and bones. So maintaining collagen in your body is very important. But after the age of 25 your body loses 2% of its collagen every year. That’s where collagen powders come in to help combat that loss.
What are the benefits?
There are SO many benefits to adding collagen powder to your daily routine!
•Improves Skin Health: Not only does it help with skin hydration and elasticity but it has a huge anti aging component as well. Essentially wrinkles come from lack of collagen in skin. So the less collagen you lose the less wrinkles you’ll get!
• Helps Relieve Joint Pain
• Promoted Heart Health
• Helps Increase Strength of Hair and Nails
** keep in mind I am NOT a dr but this is what my research has found! **
How do you use it?
Most powders can be added to any beverage or liquid (soup or broth)! I personally like using unflavored ones in my morning coffee and if it has a flavor I add it to a smoothie! But it’s totally personal preference.
Does it work?
Since adding collagen powders to my daily routine I have noticed my skin looking a lot smoother than previously. But everyone’s results I’m sure are different! So try it out and let me know what you think!
