Confessions of a 30yr old Valentine’s Day Virgin

I have a confession I am 30 years old and have never had a Valentine. That’s right, I’m a 30 year old Valentine’s Day Virgin! I’ve never received any of the cliche cheesy heart-shaped jewelry and the only flowers I have ever gotten on this Hallmark holiday are from my Dad. But let’s get one thing clear I’m totally fine with it!

Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t always been fine with it. I used to long for a romantic V-Day, filled with roses and champagne. But for the longest time I was a very insecure person and with that I dated guys that were, to put it bluntly, losers. And when you are not confident in yourself or what you have to offer the world you then think that these losers are the best you can get. I mean just to prove this point. I had an on again off again “relationship” (and I use that word very loosely) for 5 yrs with a man who always thought my birthday was March 15…….. for the record its May 29th. So I didn’t expect the romance to be rolled out on Valentine’s Day or any other day for that matter. I’m telling you all about this not to have you feel sorry for me, but to see that going through these terrible relationships as in turn, never having a Valentine are all things that ending up driving me to better myself. I made it a goal to learn to LOVE myself, and to find value in what I brought to the table. Once I found that love I found I didn’t have a Valentine for a whole different reason…… I REFUSE TO SETTLE.

After finally breaking away from the perpetual chain of bad dates, douchebag guys and insecurities. I took a step back to find a love for myself that I never had before. As my confidence grew, I started to truly realize what I deserved. I decided to take some time away from relationships to focus on my career and grow my brand. In that time I found my passion for sharing my stories, style, and my personal growth journey through the blog. Now, don’t get me wrong during this break I did date here and there but it is amazing how your standards change when you learn to LOVE YOURSELF! I no longer longed for the cliche Valentine’s Day date. I didn’t want to spend my Valentine’s Day with just anyone, like someone I met off of some random dating site. If I’m going to break my Valentine’s Day cherry it needs to be with someone fucking good! Now that I know what I want and deserve in a relationship, I refuse to waste my time with anything less than that!

So to no surprise I’m spending the holiday without a Valentine again this year and I couldn’t be happier. I’m so thankful what these 30yrs of solo Vdays has taught me and how it led me to ultimately fall in love with something so much more important than a silly holiday …… Myself. And in my opinion, that’s the best Valentine a girl could have!

10 Netflix shows to binge during the Polar Vortex!

The Polar Vortex has finally hit the midwest and it is brutal. As of right now it is a balmy -18 degrees outside with a -40 degree windchill. So, for those of you that are curious, it is currently colder in my home of Milwaukee than it is in ANTARCTICA right now. Everything is currently closed down due to this insane cold blast, and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING! Even bars are closed here in Wisconsin and if you know us Wisconsinites or are one yourself, you know that bars shutting down is pretty much a sign of the apocalypse for us. We LOVE to be able to day drink here. lol

So with most of us trapped in our houses for the next few days, I hope you have stocked up on wine, snacks and are ready to binge watch some prime tv on Netflix. Being a self proclaimed Netflix addict myself, I have put together my top picks for the best binge worthy shows.

1. Nailed it

If you have ever tried to attempt a Pinterest baking project and it ended up failing miserably, this is the show for you. This is a baking competition that takes amateur bakers and challenges them to recreate some of the most elaborate baking projects for a cash prize. And let me tell you, the results are tragic and hysterical.

2. It Takes Two

This is an oldie but a goodie. If you are a child of the 90’s you will feel all sorts of nostalgia while watching this Mary-Kate and Ashley classic.

3. The Office

Speaking of oldie but goodies, The Office is always a good binge choice. Curl up with a cozy blanket, some coffee and re-watched this classic comedy sitcom. It will be hard to not crack up at the insane pranks Jim pulls on Dwight.

4. Instant Hotel

I first heard about Instant Hotel from my BFF Andrea. A few weeks back she texted me that I had to binge it and text her when I was done. Let me tell you this show is hysterical. It’s an Australian reality show where couples who have Air BNB rentals compete in a completion to win the title of best rental and a trip to the Unites Sates. Each episode they stay in one of the other contestants rental and rate it. You are probably reading this thinking, ” How is this funny?”. Well, these people are so CATTY which makes it super funny. Just watch it and I promise Leroy will end up being your fave diva of the show! I seriously want him to get his own spin off!

5. Queer Eye

This show is just such an uplifting and positive show, that I promise you will make you cry happy tears at some point during your binge. The makeovers that the Queer Eye team give are not just for aesthetics but they are transforming these men from the inside out. It’s a funny, beautiful and happy to watch. Plus it has JVN…… enough said.

6. The Sinner

When a normal seeming mom snaps and stabs a complete stranger while spending the day at the beach with her family. She is faced with having to relive her past and open memories that she blocked out to discover what triggered her to kill. This show is dark, Im not going to lie, but it is super addicting and with so many twists and turns in the plot you are not going to want to turn it off until you get all the answers.

7. Santa Clarita Diet

This is a funny take on the zombie trend that has been happening ever since the start of The Walking Dead. A husband and wife realtor team are faced with a whole bunch of new hurdles when one of them dies and comes back as a zombie. With almost everything seeming to be back to normal, besides the whole zombie thing, they are now faced with one issue. To keep the craving for human flesh under control and under wraps from everyone else in their community.

8. You

This show follows a classic love story, except for the fact that it isn’t classic at all. Boy stalks girls, girl falls for boy, boy starts killing everyone who gets in the way of their love.

9. Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes

If you are a true crime lover like myself, then you will be glued to the screen watching this. Listen to actual tapes of Ted Bundy talking about the horrific crimes he committed and his 2 escapes from prison.

Huge Announcement!!!

Today is a big day for me. Today I’m taking the biggest leap of faith I have ever taken in my life. As most of you know I have been struggling with my full time job being just that a FULL TIME job. With my hours continually getting cut and the instability that that brings I have had to do some hardcore soul searching and praying to determine what my next steps needed to be. And one outcome kept being brought back to me over and over! And of course it was the option I have been scared most to do for a long time……. be a full time blogger.

As any Christian, getting lead by the Lord to take a big step in your life often leads to the arguing phase: “What if I fail?” ” But I’m not financially where I want to be before I take this leap!” “Lord don’t you know I have bills to pay?!?!?” While I was busy brushing this off and thinking that there is no way I can make this work, I also kept being brought back to ” Do you not trust God to be God? Trust him and watch what He can do.” Then all of a sudden the checks/collabs started coming in from the blog heavier than ever before! And finally I decided that I’m ready for this leap!

I’m excited to officially announce that I’m leaving my “full time” (using that term lightly) job to be a FULL TIME BLOGGER! I still can’t believe it even as I’m typing it! I never thought that when I started this lil ole blog that I would be able to get to this point! And here Iam! Is it going to be hard…….Yes! Is it going to be scary…… yes! Is it going to be the most rewarding and fulfilling thing I’ve ever done in my life?…….. absolutely! Is it scary ….. hell yes! Will I end up getting a part time job at Starbucks or something just for a change of scenery……. probably! lol

Now that it’s OFFICALY ANNOUNCED that I will be starting my new full time role as CEO of It’s Pamela Kieck the second week of February the fun begins! Coming the first week in March there will be a lot of different content and features to the site.

Each week there will be a weekly blog newsletter sent out to all subscribers featuring:

There will also be new services that I will offer:

•Blogging Resources

And you will be able to shop my closet and wish lists right from my website!

I’m so excited for this new journey and equally terrified. But if your dreams don’t scare you than they aren’t big enough! Thank you so much to all of you for being loyal followers and get ready for It’s Pamela Kieck to be bigger and better than ever before!

Room Reveal: Bedroom

I have to say my bedroom was probably the most difficult room to decorate due to some unique structural elements. On either side of one wall is a severely sloped ceiling and there are two walk in closets on either side of the room. So to make my bed to focal of the room I put it in between the two sloped ceilings with a vanity under one of the slopes. Then on the opposite wall did my dresser.

As for decor I wanted it to be cozy, with some pops of color in the accents. A hot pink headboard and the accent pillows play off the color of the art work above my dresser. While the pineapple lamps add a touch of fun to the decor! Also some cozy faux fur blankets for a luxe vibe.

Blogging is a full time job, even if it’s not your actual FULL TIME job. A lot of time is spent behind the computer working on content and planning outfits and actually writing blog posts. So when I moved into my new place I knew that I wanted an office that was chic and inspiring for when I’m creating content.

Everywhere you look I tried to mix fashion with functionality. With inspiration boards and content calendar, a clothing rack for the latest outfits that need to be shot, and of course a great display for my purses.

Now the hours I spend in here don’t feel like work. But a place I enjoy to go to and be my best creative self!
